DIVISION 1 COLLEGIATE LEVEL
Anthony Adams is the Head Men’s Soccer Coach for the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). During his 27 year tenure as an Associate Head Coach, UMBC has seen its greatest success at the Division 1 level including a 2014 College Cup (Final Four), 5 trips to the NCAA Tournament, National Rankings (as high as 4th), 10 Conference Championships and recruited over 60 players that have gone on to play or get drafted professionally including 8 to the MLS. Adams has also been recognized by AFLAC as the National Assistant Coach of the Year, the NSCAA as the Atlantic Assistant Coach of the Year, and 8 times by the College Soccer News as a Top Assistant Coach. He holds a USSF “A” License and was inducted to the Greater Dundalk Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. In 2013, Adams received the Edward Finzel Award for Outstanding Contributions to Soccer in Maryland. He also served as a Coaching Education instructor for MSYSA.
CLUB LEVEL
On the club level, Adams won 10 Maryland State Championships with five different teams from 1996-2007 with the Soccer Club of Baltimore and the Baltimore Bays. His teams made National Final Four appearances in both 1996 and 2003. Adams coached exclusively in the US Soccer Development Academy with the Baltimore Bays from 2008-2013. He has been on the Senior Staff for Baltimore Celtic SC since Fall 2013. His Celtic 07 Girls Academy team has reached the national playoffs two consecutive seasons. Many former players have reached the pinnacle of college soccer along with an elite group that have risen to the MLS level.
PLAYING BACKGROUND
The local Baltimore product played for the 1994 U19 National Champion Baltimore Spirit. At the college level, Adams played 4 years of Division 1 soccer at UMBC and received the Retriever Club Scholarship Award in 1995 for his excellence on the field and in the classroom.
At the high school level, Adams played 3 years of Varsity soccer at perennial power Calvert Hall winning League Championships in both 1990 and 1991.
Adams has been a member of men’s national powerhouse Christos FC since 1999.
